Free Tickets Available For MHS High School Quiz Show Taping

Melrose High School will tape its first appearance on GBH's popular televised "High School Quiz Show" this month.

MELROSE, MA — Melrose community members have a chance to support Melrose High School and get a peek behind the curtain of TV production this month as members of the live studio audience at a planned GBH High School Quiz Show taping.

High School Quiz Show is entering its 14th season featuring area high schools competing against each other in a trivia game show format.

Melrose High School’s quiz show team qualified in November to join this season’s competition as one of 17 participating teams. The qualification set Melrose up to face Concord-Carlisle in an initial wild card contest.

After two seasons of remote tapings due to COVID-19, High School Quiz Show is returning to the studio this year for live tapings hosted by radio and TV personality Billy Costa.

This is Melrose's first appearance on High School Quiz Show. Melrose’s wild card matchup with Concord-Carlisle will tape on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Anyone interested in attending the taping can register using an online link here. While registration is free, taping organizers have noted that registration does not guarantee seating in the actual studio audience.

Overflow guests will instead be seated in an adjacent theater with a live feed of the taping.

The Melrose vs. Concord-Carlisle taping will take place at GBH headquarters at 1 Guest St. in Boston. Doors open for the taping at 8:45 a.m. Doors will then close at 9:15 a.m.

There will be no admittance for audience members who arrive after doors close.

Masks are required for anyone visiting GBH.

Melrose's wild card meeting with Concord-Carlisle will air on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
