Here’s How Melrose Residents Can Dispose Of Hazardous Waste

Melrose residents may attend Stoneham's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day to dispose of certain toxic household items.

MELROSE, MA — Melrose residents with hazardous household waste can take part in Stoneham’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day to dispose of toxic items.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Stoneham High School, located at 149 Franklin St.

Proof of residency is required, and there are fees associated with the disposal:

  • 1/4 trunk load – $20
  • 1/2 trunk load – $30
  • Full trunk load – $60

The event is check only, no cash will be accepted.

To ensure hazardous materials are safely transported and dropped off, Melrose residents are asked to:

  • Tighten caps and lids, and leave hazardous items in their original containers
  • Sort and pack separately: oil paints, pesticides, and household cleaners
  • Pack items in sturdy boxes and pad with newspaper
  • Never smoke while handling hazardous materials
  • Never mix chemicals
