Man Facing Charges Of Possession, Trafficking Cocaine: Melrose PD

Melrose Police said they recovered 19 baggies of what was determined to be cocaine, weighing 27.65 grams.

MELROSE, MA – The Melrose Police Department has arrested Samuel Castillo, 26, of Lynn on charges of possession of a Class B substance and drug trafficking, officials said in a news release.

On April 7, Melrose police received a report of a potential altercation between two individuals on Lebanon Street near the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. One of the individuals was seen driving a gray Ford Escape.

Officers stopped the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, who was later identified as Castillo, saw a plastic bag with what appeared to be a white powdery substance, police said. The substance was later determined to be cocaine.

Police said officers searched the vehicle and with the help of K-9 Nero, found six more baggies determined to be cocaine hidden inside the car door.

Castillo was arrested and the Ford Escape he was driving was taken to Melrose Police Station for processing, where police said they found an additional 12 baggies containing substances determined to be cocaine.

Castillo was arraigned at Malden District Court on April 7 and was held on $540 bail.
