MELROSE, MA — Melrose readers will have a chance to enjoy a different kind of library experience beginning later this month when the Melrose Public Library is set to run the first of two planned pop-up libraries at the Melrose Farmers' Market.

The pop-ups will operate from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 25 and Sept. 1 at the farmers' market at Bowden Park in Melrose.

The library promoted the event on Tuesday on social media, promising books for all ages available for checkout with a library card.

The Melrose Public Library is running these pop-up programs in the midst of a major transition to a temporary new home at the Beebe School in Melrose.

Library Director Linda Gardener told Patch last week that construction on long-awaited renovations at the library’s historic West Emerson Street location will likely begin in October.

In the meantime, library operations are expected to resume at the Beebe School in mid-September as staff plan to continue to provide library offerings through the duration of their renovations.
