Melrose Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Stabbing In Home

MELROSE, MA — A Melrose man was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in connection with a fatal stabbing Friday at a Ledge Street home in Melrose, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

Nathan Baldi, 21, has been charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing bodily injury in connection with the death of James Percent, 47. Authorities said the two men shared the residence.

Authorities said Baldi also suffered stab wounds in the incident and was hospitalized for those injuries.

The District Attorney's Office said a preliminary investigation into the incident indicated that a domestic altercation occurred in the home between Percent and a woman, at which point Baldi became involved.

Authorities said police were called to the home at approximately 7:05 p.m. Friday due to a report of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, police located Percent, who was unresponsive and suffering from apparent stab wounds. Percent was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

An ongoing investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office and the Melrose Police Department.
