Melrose Police Aid In Search That Leads To Woburn Drug, Weapons Arrest

Investigators found drugs, cash and assault weapons when they conducted a search related to this case earlier this week, police said.

MELROSE, MA - A Woburn man was arrested following a coordinated search by Woburn Police, Melrose Police and federal officials this week, Woburn Police said on Friday.

Drew Kelly, 25, has since been charged with drug offenses including trafficking amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, police said. He was also charged with unlawful firearm possession offenses, according to police.

The Woburn Police Vice/Narcotics Unit worked with Melrose Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration in Boston on a search related to this case on Thursday.

The search, police said, yielded narcotics, roughly $30,000 in cash, assault weapons, large capacity firearms and feeding devices as well as guns with defaced serial numbers.

State records show Kelly's case has been filed in Woburn District Court. Information on an arraignment was not immediately available on Friday afternoon.
