Cleanup Continues, But Melrose Dodged Snowmaggedon

While some towns just miles north and west got closer to 20 inches, Melrose got away with just a bit of wet, heavy accumulation.

Initial forecasts had around a foot of snow headed for Melrose, but the snow/rain line moved a bit north of the city.

MELROSE, MA — Local crews are working through still-messy weather to clean up a storm that has fallen well short of expectations.

Initial forecasts had around a foot of snow headed for Melrose, but the snow/rain line moved a bit north of the city. As a result, Melrose saw only a little wet, heavy accumulation overnight, while towns just miles north and west saw closer to 20 inches of snow.

"It was a slushy storm and we plowed all night, and today we’re doing additional cleanup," Department of Public Works Director Elena Proakis Ellis told Patch Tuesday morning.
