Melrose Snow Update: Streets Clear, But Long Road Ahead

The Mayor's office checks in with some update on how snow removal is going and what you can expect.

MELROSE, MA — All streets in Melrose should be clear now, but large snowbanks will take days to clear, the Mayor's office said in a storm update. The Mayor's office thanked the community for patience and cooperation as the City works to shovel out from "a significant storm."

Melrose got 15.1 inches of snow, according to an unofficial measurement gathered by the National Weather Service. Temperatures will be dropping to zero soon enough.

The primary focus right now is clearing the front of schools and public buildings. Intersections were beginning to be worked on. The snowbanks could take up to five days to deal with, the update said.

The City on Sunday evening will begin moving snow from municipal parking lots and improve access to the business districts. This could take through the week.

The update encouraged residents with concern regarding street snow removal to call 781-665-0142 through 4 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday.
