Melrose Thanksgiving Game Is Just Appetizer

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Red Raiders will play Nashoba at Gillette Stadium for the Division 4 state championship on Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. The only question now is whether they will be introduced as the undefeated Red Raiders.

Melrose hosts Wakefield Thanksgiving morning at 10:15. This will be the 102d Thanksgiving Day matchup between Melrose and Wakefield, according to The Boston Globe. Melrose holds the all-time edge, 55-40-6.

While Melrose strolls into this year's edition with an 11-0 record, Wakefield sputters in with a 4-6 mark. But it's not that simple.

Wakefield has alternated wins and losses since Oct. 6, and that rhythm would have it lined up to upset Melrose. More importantly, who knows which Melrose players will see the field? As passionate as Thanksgiving rivalries are, the Red Raiders undoubtedly have one eye toward the Super Bowl. Read more about that game here.
