MELROSE, MA — During the month of August, the local nonprofit MelroseKind is hosting a drive in support of the Boston Refugee and Immigration Assistance Center (RIAC).

Throughout the month, MelroseKind will be collecting shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and grocery store gift cards to fill the RIAC Welcome Baskets for immigrants and refugees.

This past year, RIAC assisted over 850 refugees in the greater Boston Area. While refugees wait for the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to process SNAP (food stamp) benefits, grocery store gift cards are essential to filling the gap.
