Pantry of Hope benefit raises more than $1K

A benefit concert by Knock on Wood generated more than $1,000 for the Pantry of Hope

The June 23 Pantry of Hope benefit concert by local duo Knock on Wood raised $1,060. It was hosted by the First Baptist Church of Melrose and drew a sizeable crowd on the church lawn.

The Pantry of Hope (www.melrosefbc.org/pantry-of-hope), run by the First Baptist Church, provides food for needy families and individuals in the Melrose area.

This was the fourth annual community fundraiser by Knock Wood (www.howienewman.com/knockonwood), an acoustic folk-rock duo fronted by Melrose’s Howie Newman.

“It was a fun show and a great night,” said Newman. “It was nice to see the community come together to support the church’s food pantry and have an enjoyable evening together.”
