Man Struck, Killed In Melrose Train Incident

An investigation is ongoing, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, after a man was struck on Friday.

MELROSE, MA — A man was struck and killed Friday by an MBTA train in Melrose, a Middlesex District Attorney's Office spokesperson confirmed.

The incident took place around 11:30 a.m., according to the District Attorney's office, in the area of West Foster and Berwick Street.

Emergency crews responded to find the man dead on the scene, officials said.

The MBTA first announced police activity within its commuter rail right of way in Melrose around 12 p.m., saying service had been terminated near the Melrose/Cedar Park Station near West Emerson Street.

Melrose Police told Patch around 1 p.m. Friday that MBTA Transit Police were investigating the crash.

Contacted on Friday afternoon, Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan referred questions to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

An investigation was ongoing as of Saturday afternoon, according to the District Attorney's Office.
