Route 1 Closing On Both Sides This Morning
Route 1 North and South will temporarily close at about 11:30 a.m. to repair power lines following an overnight crash.
SAUGUS, MA — Route 1 will be closed on both sides at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to allow for power line repairs after an overnight crash into a utility pole.
Utility workers will be pulling new wires across the highway. Police did not say how long Route 1 would be closed, only that it would be "temporary."
State Police said there was a single-car car into the pol on Route 1 South near the Bank of America in Saugus. Power lines went down across both sides, shutting down the highway until after 3 a.m.
