Seamus Kelley Announces Candidacy For Melrose School Committee

MELROSE, MA – Seamus Kelley has announced his candidacy for the Melrose School Committee on Thursday.

“I greatly value our public schools and our teachers,” Kelley said in a news release. “I believe that the Melrose Public Schools are the most important service the city provides, and I want all kids to get the best possible education.”

Kelley is an active volunteer in Melrose. He is a lead room parent and library volunteer at Roosevelt Elementary School and previously served as a volunteer member of the Melrose Affordable Housing Trust Fund and the Melrose Housing Production Plan Committee. He is also involved in pedestrian safety in the Cedar Park neighborhood.

“As a member of the Melrose School Committee, I will advocate for fully funding our schools, provide strong fiscal oversight, and promote sound long-term planning,” Kelley said in the release.

Kelley and his wife, Candace Reddy Kelley, live on West Emerson Street with their two daughters, Mary, in kindergarten at Roosevelt Elementary School, and Claire, in pre-k at Franklin ECC School.

Professionally, Kelley works as an operations manager at the Massachusetts Health Connector and previously worked on affordable housing, economic development, and budget issues in former Governor Deval Patrick’s Administration.

Kelley has a Bachelor’s Degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and a Master’s of Public Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, MA.
