Severe Storms May Pass North Of Boston

MELROSE, MA —Thunderstorms rolling across the state have prompted a special weather statement from the National Weather Service for communities north of Boston.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the city itself through 5 p.m.

The special weather statement area could see 40 mile-per-hour wind and pea-sized hail. The statement also expires at 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has advised anyone in the path of the storm to seek shelter until the weather passes.

The National Weather Service has issued a series of other special weather statements and warnings across the state as high heat and humidity combine to produce stormy conditions.
