MELROSE, MA — The owner of Tenóch, the Mexican restaurant slated for Main Street, is looking to open by mid-August.

Alvaro Sandoval, who co-owns the Boston-area chain with his brother, told the Protection and License Committee Monday night he is aiming for the second week of August. The work currently being done is to install a handicap bathroom and some cosmetic work in the dining area, he said.

Sandoval also said he'd eventually like to sell wine and beer at Tenóch, like his other locations in Boston, Medford and Somerville.

"It's a good match, beer and tacos," he said.

The committee favorably recommended his application for a Common Victualler License.
