Dirty Ovens And Knives, More: Milford's Health Inspections

Milford's health department conducted multiple inspections from February and March.

MILFORD, MA—The following inspections were supplied by the Milford Board of Health:

  • Sabor Express 55 Water St. 2-2-18 Violations here include the following. Upstairs vinyl floor needs to be cleaned in both rooms…sticky. Clean floor area really good esp. near the baseboard and grease trap area, clean both container used to store utensils, clean the exterior and interior of the microwave oven, need to do some housekeeping in the small upstairs prep area where the walk in cooler is located, need a working paper towel dispenser in the restroom, and chest freezer and coolers are to be defrosted and cleaned. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspected on 2-8-18 and found violations corrected.
  • Central Tavern 31 Central St. 2-22-18 Violations here include the following Need to find or install visible thermometers for the large chest freezer in the basement, basement on both side of the basement ok but will need to do some eventual housekeeping on the side where the walk in cooler is located, need paper towel for the hand sink in the warewashing area, need a visible thermometer for the stand alone freezer in the kitchen, clean exteriors of both fryers and change the oil, several foods need to be covered in the walk in cooler, either clean the interior of the microwave oven or time fo9r a new one, and at the bar area store the ice scoop in a safe sanitary method and not in the ice to prevent bare hand contact with food (ice). Re-inspected on 3-2-18 and found violations corrected.
  • Cornerstones 11 Birch St. 3-2-18 One violation here trays of dessert not covered in the walk in cooler.
  • Memorial School 12-14 Walnut St. 3-2-18 No violations here.
  • Casa Brazil 112 Main St. 3-7-18 The following violations exists here. Food products upon delivery must be stored properly when received cannot be stored on the floor in the walk in cooler, small storage/prep area across from the dish machine must be better maintained clean organized and food service utensils and equipment stored properly and safely, inside the walk in cooler panels need to be cleaned esp. near the door and other areas where needed and pointed out, clean interiors of both Vulcan ovens, and clean the interiors of both stainless steel draws where equipment and utensils are stored so that sanitation is maintained. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspected 3-14-18 and found violations corrected.
  • Bed Bath and Beyond 230 Fortune Blvd. 3-7-18 No violations here.
  • Best Western 3 Fortune Blvd. 3-7-18 Need additional thermometers, and need to properly finish off new counter top where it meets the 3 bay sink. Currently it is raw wood and cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Countryside Health Care 1 Countryside Drive 3-2-18 Be sure knives are clean and sanitized before storage in the knife rack and 10 burner stove needs cleaning esp. inside the burner wells.
  • Milford Mandarin 196 E. Main St. 3-22-18 Violations here include the following. Ice scoop for the large ice machine is to be stored in a safe and sanitary manner (in the ice scoop holder provided), in the walk in cooler be sure all foods are covered and stored off the floor, 6 burner stove top at the main line needs to be scrubbed, need to cover one food product in the 2 door prep cooler, one food product not covered in the True 2 door cooler, cleavers are to be clean and sanitized before storage on the magnetic knife strip, ice scoops (2) at the bar need to be stored safely and in a sanitary manner not in the ice and not left out exposed to any dust or dirt contamination. Need hotter hot water in both ladies and men’s restrooms. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspected and found violations corrected.
  • Double Tree Hotel 11 Beaver St. 3-22-18 Violations here include the following. One container of food product not covered in the R1 cooler, in the dry goods storage room store food products in cardboard boxes off the floor, interior of the convection oven needs to be cleaned, and piping in between the main line needs to be cleaned due to a grease and dust buildup.
  • D.O.C. 50 Maple St. 3-21-18 Violations here include the following. Cannot keep the back door to the dry goods storage room open this could allow for the entrance of pest, no one working the kitchen preparing foods is wearing a hair restraint, need paper towel for the hand sink and a working soap dispenser, some sort of food debris in the bottom of the table mounted food mixer, and need deeper ice baths for the salad dressings.
  • Domino’s 2 Cape Rd. 3-14-18 No violations here.
  • D’Angelo’s 138 S. Main St. 3-14-18 Be sure knives are clean and sanitized before storing in the knife rack, flat top grill needs a good scrubbing/cleaning and two cutting boards are to be replaced due to heavy use (knife marks that make these surfaces difficult to impossible to sanitize. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspected and found all violations corrected.,
  • D’Angelo’s 195 E. Main St. 3-12-18 No violations found here.
  • Dairy Queen 190 West St. 3-12-18 One violation here. In the small prep cooler do not stack a food container on top of another uncovered food container.
  • Depot St. Tavern 45 Depot St. 3-26-18 In the outside walk in cooler numerous foods left uncovered and food in cardboard boxes cannot be stored on the floor in this same cooler, metal peeling off the back door to the kitchen with sharp edges, new cutting board are needed for the prep coolers (2), char broiler needs to be cleaned, need new sheet metal covers for a prep cooler, need hotter hot water for the restrooms, repair screen door in the basement storage area, and need to find or install thermometers in all coolers and freezers. A re-inspection is scheduled. Re-inspect and found violations corrected. In addition new cutting boards are ordered, kitchen will undergo a complete renovation with the footprint remaining the same this means new walls ceiling and floor which will extend into the kitchen, this will also include a new steel door, walk in cooler violations corrected, char broiler good (used all the time), and new metal covers are being fabricated for the prep cooler. Restaurant will be closing for a short time for the kitchen. The owner will stay in contact with this office.
  • Cedar St. Market 100 E. Main St. 3-27-18 No violations here.
