Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center Needham Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The public is invited to pick up free pink pins at participating merchants in Needham.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID-Needham) and the Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center in Needham are teaming up with 30 local merchants and the Needham Business Association to provide free pink ribbon pins for the members of the community. The ribbons are recognized as a symbol of support for breast cancer treatment and hope for finding a cure.

This initiative coincides with the recent opening of the 30,000-square-foot Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center and Surgical Pavilion in Needham. The new facility brings the latest in advanced cancer diagnostics and therapies as well as state-of-the-art surgical suites together in one building. This comprehensive center, “built from the patient up,” provides increased access to advanced cancer care and surgeries to area communities.

“Cancer awareness is very important to us, and we think these pins are a great way for the area businesses and residents to show their support,” said BID Cancer Center Medical Director Robb Friedman, MD. “We thank area merchants and the Needham Business Association for joining us in this cause.”
