NEWTON, MA — Brewers Coalition in Newton has closed after 10 years of business in the city, said owners Bill and Sue Honeycutt in a Facebook post.

The Honeycutts said they made the difficult decision to permanently close the location on Monday due to difficulties related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was a great 8 and a half years until March 14, 2020,” they said. “Since that date our successful Newton location has taken a big hit. Our recent sales volume was more than 50 percent less than what it was pre-Covid. No business can survive that, no matter how much we wanted it to.”

Brewers Coalition has three other locations in Waltham, Malden, and Martha’s Vineyard. All gift cards will be honored at John Brewers Tavern in Waltham and Malden.

“We don’t take major decisions like this lightly because we know that it impacts many people, not just us,” said the Honeycutts. “Today we move on, but we remember and sincerely thank all of those who have supported and helped us along the way.”
