Burke had been working a corporate job until 2015, according to an about page on the Burke’s website. He then made a pivot to brewing, building on experience with homebrewing to develop his own recipes and begin a career in the brewing industry. Burke worked at Slesar Bros Brewing Co. and the Somerville-based Aeronaut Brewing Company before he launched his own brewery in 2017, according to his LinkedIn page.

Burke opened Burke’s Alewerks in Hanover. His Newton opening, first reported by Boston Restaurant Talk, now marks a relocation. Burke shuttered his Hanover operation on Dec. 18, according to a social media announcement.
