Free Summer Events Coming To The Street Chestnut Hill In June

NEWTON, MA – A slew of free summertime activities and events are slated for The Street Chestnut Hill, an open-air shopping center in Newton.

The “Summertime at the Street” event series will run from June through mid-September between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 33 Boylston St. in Chestnut Hill.

The event series will offer kid-friendly programs, outdoor fitness classes, yappy hours for pets, live music performances, and the return of the annual street fair and sidewalk sale.

All events listed below are free and open to the public, except for the Puddlestompers sessions*.

Puddlestompers* Nature Exploration
This fun, educational experience provides nature programming for young children with the goal of encouraging them to get out and explore the natural communities in their own backyards.
Interactive nature explorations will take place on The Green and around Hammond Pond Reservation. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 1, and September 14.

Little Beats
Little Beats will host early childhood dance and music education workshops with curriculums developed by experts in the field designed to be both fun and beneficial. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 8, July 13, and August 10

Joanne Langione Dance Center
Newton’s oldest school of dance education for children, will offer complimentary guided PlayDance Pop-Ups. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 15, July 20, August 3, and September 7.

Knucklebones
Committed to using play as a catalyst for a happier and healthier lifestyle, Knucklebones will feature an outdoor, pop-up play space with a diverse quantity of high-end play equipment for kids. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 29, July 21*, and August 31.
*Boston Moms, will host a local moms meet-up on July 21.

Josh & the Jamtones
This interactive, ultra-powered rock n’ roll family band is a total dance party guaranteed to get crowds of any age moving their bodies, laughing out loud and singing along, regardless of age, height, or shoe size! 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 23

Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys
This Parents’ Choice Award-winning kids band from Boston will present an outdoor concert full of singing, dancing, playing, jumping, spinning, imagining and bubbles.

Music at The Blissful (Evan Haller)
A fun-filled, interactive, movement-packed music experience for the whole family.

THE STREET SWEAT
Get ready to sweat this summer with your favorite local instructors! Hosted in partnership with local fitness studios Higher Love Yoga, Motion Study Mind/Body Studio, Barre3 and more, The Street Sweat outdoor fitness group workouts return with up to seven classes per month this summer. Classes take place on select dates on The Green.

• Motion Study Mind/Body Studio

Founded with the belief that exercise should empower you, enhance your life, and give you the energy and strength to accomplish everyday tasks, Motion Study will host a series of classes that are well-balanced and varied. June 17, July 15, and August 19

An efficient and effective workout combining strength, cardio, and mindfulness that will leave you feeling balanced in body and empowered from within. June 7, July 12, August 2, September 13, and October 4

MAGIC HOUR MUSIC

Move and groove to some lively beats, lawn games, and more. Offering free live music one Friday a month, local musicians from So Good Sounds, a women-owned business that focuses on matching communities with exceptional local musicians, will perform outdoors on The Green. Details of musicians to be announced soon.

THE STREET FAIR AND SIDEWALK SALE
Don’t miss the return of the fun-filled Street Fair and Sidewalk Sale, featuring live music, family-friendly entertainment, street dancers, food sampling from restaurants at The Street Chestnut Hill plus a sidewalk sale and exclusive offers from retailers property-wide. June 17 between 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Rain Date: Sunday, June 18).

YAPPY HOURS
Welcoming both large and small pups alike, The Street Chestnut Hill will offer a variety of free outdoor, dog-friendly meetups on The Green, featuring live entertainment, complimentary dog treats, toys, photo opportunities, and more.
