Meet the Artists: Matt and Shannon Heaton

Since settling in Boston in 2001, Matt and Shannon Heaton have been instrumental in shaping the city's vibrant traditional music scene. With five albums to their credit and a rich history of concert and festival appearances across the US and beyond, their mastery of Irish music is unparalleled. Shannon, a Massachusetts Traditional Artist Fellow, has dedicated herself to making Irish traditional music accessible through initiatives like Passim’s Boston’s Celtic Music Festival and her podcast, Irish Music Stories. Meanwhile, Matt's talents extend beyond Irish accompaniment to engaging performances for children and families, earning him multiple Massachusetts Cultural Council Grants.

Special Guest: Joey Abarta

Joining the Heatons on stage is the exceptionally talented Joey Abarta, whose passion for the Uilleann pipes has taken him around the globe. With awards including second place worldwide at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in 2009 and first prize at the An Oireachtas in 2014, Joey's dedication to his craft is evident. Recognized with traditional arts apprenticeships and an Artist Fellowship in the Traditional Arts from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Joey's performance is sure to elevate the evening's magic.
