NEWTON, MA – Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Newton for 2023.

We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Newton so you can start planning now.

July 4 Festivities

What: Newton July 4th 2023 Kids Morning
Where: Newton Centre Playground, 81 Tyler Terrace, Newton, MA, 02459
When: Tuesday, July 4, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

At this free event for children ages 3 – 12-years-old, children and families are invited to join in the Patriotic Costume Parade, Grand Pet Promenade, Decorated Bicycle Parade, make a July 4th parade wand at the arts/crafts table and more. Free ice cream is available courtesy of Cabot’s Ice Cream. Kids Morning is canceled in the event of rain.

When: Tuesday, July 4, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Fourth of July fun continues with a carnival featuring kiddie amusement rides by Cushing Amusements, local business vendor booths, handmade craft fair, live musical entertainment at the gazebo, and food trucks. Don't miss the performance by Flying High Dogs at 1pm in the field. You will be amazed at the agility and precision of these dogs who appear to sail through the air while catching flying objects!

The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile is returning to Newton and will be available for tours and photo ops all day 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sorry - no hot dogs served from the mobile, but you can purchase lots of other great food from the many food trucks at the festival!

The fun moves over to the main stage with the Bo and Bill Winiker Band performing from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket, try out the delicious food from the many food trucks, and enjoy the open space under the stars. At 9:10 p.m., the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display! No rain date.
