NEWTON, MA — Every day is different for first responders in Newton. Today during and after the downpours in the Garden City, firefighters responded to a rollover, a house struck by lighting and even a technical rescue just behind Station 3, according to officials.

The property just behind Station 3 where a MWRA water main is buried, is owned by the state, which contracts the lawn's mowing. Two people were cutting the grass this morning when one of the men cutting the grass in a ride mower slid down the hill and hit the stone wall and railing where the fire department starts.

Newton Rescue found a state contractor entrapped between a fence and a lawnmower. They were able to extricate him, and the 60-year-old was taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital with injuries described as minor. There was some damage to the fence and the wall, according to fire officials.

There was no structural damage to the home and no fire, but a wall inside suddenly had a hole. The owner notified an electrician to come check it out.
