NEWTON, MA — A Newton man was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison on Thursday after being convicted of cocaine possession and distribution and gun charges while being on supervised federal release for another gun-related felony.

Shawn Craig, 38, was sentenced to 99 months in prison and three years of supervised release following his conviction in September.

Craig was charged with coordinating three drug transactions with an undercover agent between September and October 2022 near his Newton home. Prosecutors said Craig provided cocaine in exchange for cash and sent an image of a gun to the agent while offering it for sale before bringing the gun and drugs to the next presumed transaction.
