Newton North's Lauren Baugher Earns MIAA Distinguished Service Award

The former University of Delaware three-sport star is the longtime softball coach at Newton North.

NEWTON, MA — Longtime Newton North teacher and softball coach Lauren Baugher is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

Baugher, who was a rare three-sport star at the University of Delaware in field hockey, women's lacrosse and softball, is a member of the Blue Hens Hall of Fame.

Baugher also coached field hockey at Newton North as she built a perennial power in softball. The Tigers won the Division 1 North title in 2017 and 2018, were a D1 North finalist in 2014 and 2016 and won the Bay State Conference championship from 2014 through 2019, 2021 and 2022.

She is also a physical education teacher at Newton North.
