NEWTON, MA — Newton podcast host Allison Sheff has launched a new mini-series, "Access to Care," on Anxiety and the Artist, a podcast that explores artists' relationship with anxiety.

In Access to Care, Sheff invited some of her previous guests to talk about access to care, including where to find affordable therapy, and the tools and resources that are available should therapy not be accessible, and how to support a friend or loved one if they need help.

"Therapy is a wonderful tool and can be a great way to facilitate healing," said a news release. "However, therapy is a privilege, and is not always accessible or affordable to those that need it the most, especially artists."

The four-part mini-series begins with therapist Lisa Gajda, who was a professional dancer for over 30 years and specializes in anxiety, trauma, performing artists, parenting, and relational issues. Gajda's episode explores the importance of community and guidelines for artists who are interested in creating their own support groups in their communities.

Future episodes include conversations with psychologist Simon Ward about the ways social media can help or hinder when creating community and a support system and associate professor and counselor Patricia D’Orange Martin about resources for college students and veterans. More guests will be announced at a later date.
