NEWTON, MA — Derby Farm Flowers and Gardens, located at 1280 Centre Street in Newton’s Piccadilly Square, is hosting its second round of Ukrainian Flower Crown design classes on Friday, April 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 2 from 3:30 to 4:30.

The class is $75 per person and all proceeds will go to Sunflower of Peace, a Boston-based non-profit organization committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian military invasion.

"For centuries, women in Ukraine have donned the vinok, a traditional flower crown,” says Derby Farm’s website. "In the past, the crowns have symbolized fertility, marriage, and purity; today, they represent so much more. Since the 2014 revolution, women across the country have adopted the vinok as a symbol of Ukrainian pride and protest."
