NEWTON, MA — Now that was a storm. After getting a bit of a dud of a snowfall Saturday, this one dumped some 14 inches of heavy wet snow on Newton, prompting a snow emergency and parking ban and creating a snow day for Newton School employees and students.

What happens next?

As crews take to the streets with the plows, firefighters are asking residents to shovel out hydrants and police are asking folks to make sure their house numbers are visible, in case of an emergency.

The parking ban will be lifted at 11:30 a.m., a few hours earlier than the planned 1 p.m., lift and the library, and city hall will reopen then, according to the mayor.

Schools and the Senior Center will be closed on Monday, March 4. However, activities on Monday night in school buildings (including this show) will go on.
