Newton Snowstorm: 5 To 9 Inches Of Snow Expected Friday

NEWTON, MA — Newton Public Schools will be closed Friday in preparation for what is expected to be the areas first major snowstorm of 2022.

The National Weather Service forecasts 5 to 9 inches of snowfall in Newton from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

Newton City Hall, the Senior Center, Newton Free Library and the Resource Recovery Center on Rumford Ave.will also be closed Friday. NewMo will not be in operation.

Trash and recycling, including Christmas tree pickup, will be delayed until Saturday, Jan. 8. Residents are asked to leave their trash out by 7 a.m.

Snow-related issues may be reported to the City through the online 311 reporting system at newtonma.gov or by telephone at 617-796-1000.
