Newton Cancels School For Wednesday, March 14

The roads are still slick.

NEWTON, MA — No school for Newton public school students for a second day in a row. Newton called a snow day just after Boston and Sommerville and Waltham called one.

As of 11 a.m. 262 Eversource customers were without power in the Garden City, which, when compared to the Cape and Islands doesn't look so bad.

The city's snow emergency parking ban will end at 7 a.m., according to Newton Police.

The governor, state and local officials are warning folks not to drive today if you don't have to as the roads are slick and visibility is low. And that's true in Newton, too.

The snow is wet and started to stick in earnest a bit later than expected at around 8 a.m., by 9 a.m. it was really accumulating. Drive slow. The T is running reduced schedules, the commuter rail is runing extremely reduced schedules. Logan flights are cancelled. Most schools are cancelled, including Newton.

It's la good day for a hot chocolate and a book. Lost power? Call Eversource at 1-800-592-2000. Tomorrow might be a good sledding day, kids.
