Newton Weather Outlook: 3-6 Inches of Snow on the Horizon

More snow is on its way to start the week.

NEWTON, MA - Bundle up and make sure you have a shovel handy - you might be digging yourself out Monday morning.

The National Weather Service is reporting another 3-6 inches of snow is likely to start the week. Snowfall is anticipated to begin around 7 a.m. as highs near 30 degrees. Winds are expected to hover between 6 to 13 mph, though we could see gusts as high as 23 mph.

The snow is likely to continue into Monday night, with scattered showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Tuesday. Accumulation is estimated to be about half an inch.

Here's the NWS weather advisory:

* LOCATIONS...ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND EXCEPT FOR THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST...CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS. * HAZARD TYPES...ACCUMULATING SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES. BEST CHANCE OF THE HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE ACROSS THE HIGH TERRAIN.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL QUICKLY OVERSPREAD WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND NORTHERN CONNECTICUT BETWEEN 3 AND 5 AM. THE SNOW SHOULD THEN MOVE INTO RHODE ISLAND AND EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS BETWEEN 5 AND 7 AM. THE BULK OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL OCCUR THROUGH MID TO LATE AFTERNOON...BUT SOME SNOW MAY LINGER INTO MONDAY EVENING ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE.

On Tuesday, the skies are expected to clear up, but don't look for the weather to get any warmer - highs will remain around 36 degrees.
