Newton's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Falls to 5.2%

This week, Newton reported a positive test count of 264. The total two-week positive case number was 224.

NEWTON, MA - Newton's COVID-19 positivity rate was 5.2%, a decrease from the previous week, according to the latest municipal-level data released by the Department of Public Health Thursday.

This week, Newton reported a two-week case count of 224. The total positive test number reported was 264.

The average daily case rate was 18, which was lower than the previous report, and there were 5,075 tests administered in the last two weeks.

On Thursday, the state Department of Public Health reported increases in cases in 150 cities and towns. There were 6.7 deaths per day over the last week, up from 5.6 per day a week ago.

The latest state vaccine report showed the number of fully vaccinated residents rose to more than 5.42 million. Booster doses were given to about 3.15 million residents.
