Newtonville Village Day Postponed Sunday Due To Expected Rain

The rescheduled event will feature craft and vendor booths, food, family activities, performances and the mayor cutting the cake.

NEWTON, MA — The Newtonville Area Council has announced that Sunday's scheduled Newtonville Village Day has been postponed until Oct. 8 due to a forecast of showers from a tropical rainstorm.

The rescheduled event will take place at the same time and location as the original: noon to 4 p.m. on Walnut Street. The event is free.

"We hope that this does not disrupt your schedule too much and that you can still attend this great community celebration day. Please pass along this news to any friends or neighbors you knew were planning on attending," the council said in a statement.

Newtonville Village Day is scheduled to feature over 70 craft and vendor booths, food from area restaurants, family activities and local musicians and student groups performing on two stages.

Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller also will cut the ceremonial cake, which will be from Icing on the Cake, located at 230 Adams St.

According to Fig City News, activities at Newtonville Village Day will include: Roaming Railroad train rides, Newton LigerBots, a New Art sidewalk mural, YMCA fitness and games, face painting, craft activities and a visit from Leo, the Newton Police Department's community resource dog.
