Obituary: Domenico Antonellis, 79, of Newton

Domenico, who immigrated from Italy at the age of 16, was a skilled cement mason and well-respected landlord.

NEWTON, MA – Domenico Antonellis, born March 25, 1937 in San Donato Val di Comino, Italy, died peacefully in his sleep at his Newton home on the morning of January 21, 2017.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Victoria Antonellis, son Frank Antonellis and his wife Yana Antonellis, daughter Irene Antonellis and her husband Scott Stonington. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, who he loved with all his heart: Michael, Jason, Andrew, and Leela.

Brother to Antonio Antonellis and predeceased by his parents Carmine and Antonia Antonellis, his sister Maria Baccari, and his sister Josephine Vespa. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Domenic left Italy at the age of 16, settling first in Toronto and New York before becoming a long-time resident of Newton. He was a skilled cement mason, working for years with Macomber Construction, and was also a well-respected landlord. He helped design and build his own home which became his family's beloved gathering place. He loved his family, his work, and Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Visiting hours to be held at Magni Funeral Home in Newton on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass Thursday at 10:30AM in Our Lady's Help of Christians Church in Newton. Burial at Newton Cemetery.
