Obituary: Doreen Tocci, 57, of Newton

"Dodi was a beautiful person who always went out of her way to help others and an undeniably fierce fighter."

NEWTON, MA – Doreen Tocci (Dangelo), 57, of Newton passed away peacefully on the morning of February 25, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved wife of: Ernie Tocci for 36 years.

Daughter of: Jacqueline (Amendola) and Edmund Dangelo, Newton.

Devoted Mother of: Melissa Cavallo and husband Johnny of Framingham, Stephanie Tocci and husband David of Framingham, Lauren Crisostomo and husband Ian of Greensboro, NC and Leonard Tocci of Newton.

Loving Grandmother of: Nathan Martinez, Hally Crisostomo, Hannah Crisostomo and Madelyn Cavallo.

Also survived by brothers Paul and Michael; sisters Julie, Maria and Jackie; along with many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Newton North High School in 1977, Dodi attended Aquinas Junior College where she received her Associates degree in legal studies. She had been employed as a paralegal and went on to have a full career for over 20 years at Tennant & Ewer, P.C. prior to moving to Greensboro, NC.

Dodi was a warm spirit who loved relaxing at the beach, tinkering in her gardening, reading and spending time with her family. Dodi was a beautiful person who always went out of her way to help others and an undeniably fierce fighter. She will be deeply missed by those whom she forever touched with her love and kindness.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Dodi requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown Street in Newton on Sunday, March 5th from 4pm-8pm followed by a Funeral Mass on Monday, March 6th at 10:30am at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton. Burial will take place at the Newton Cemetery.

The family asks that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond.
