Rosamond 'Rom' Waters, Newton Resident, Dies at 90

Services are this week.

Rosamond C. “Rom” (O’Keefe) Waters, of Newton, on passed away on Aug 21, 2015. She was 90.

Born in Brighton, Rom was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy and earned her BA in English from Emmanuel College in 1947. She taught CCD at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Centre for several years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Waters, Jr., the loving mother of Rosamond Monahan and her husband Robert P. of Maynard, Eileen Troy and her husband James E. of Waltham, Janet McGowan and her husband Francis L. of Medfield and Paul A. Waters III of Boston, devoted grandmother of CMDR Robert P. Monahan Jr., Carolyn Renick, Jonathan Monahan, James P. Troy, Jacquelyn Brew, and Michael and Leo McGowan, and great grandmother of Julia, Robert and Emily Monahan, Kiley, Liam, Keira and Kaitlin Renick and Elle, Grace and Avery Brew, and sister of Leo P. O’Keefe of W. Falmouth and the late Irene F. Melville.

Relatives and friends will gather at Sacred Heart Church 1321 Centre St. Newton Centre on Tues Aug 25 at 10:30 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Holyhood Cemetery Brookline. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Mon from4-7 PM.
