See Snowfall Totals In Newton During Sunday Storm

Snow totals reached over half a foot inches in some parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service.

NEWTON, MA — A potent snowstorm on Super Bowl Sunday brought a surprising amount of snow to the Newton area.

The winter storm dropped more snow across the region than forecasts estimated between Sunday and early Monday morning, with some areas reporting upward of 8 inches, according to preliminary totals.

No measurements were reported in Newton, but totals are available for neighboring communities.

Unless there's a drastic change, this could be the last significant snowfall for a while. The weekly forecast from the National Weather Service shows a gradual warming trend toward Presidents' Day Weekend — with a return to near 60 degrees on Thursday.

The National Weather Service has gathered preliminary snow totals from across the state. Sherborn was the winner locally with 8.3 inches of snow.
