NEWTON, MA — New York-based Small Door Veterinary has expanded to Newton, opening a new Boston-area veterinary practice last week.

Business leaders were on hand for a ribbon cutting, joined by Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller.

The new Small Door location in Newton is situated in the Newton Center area at 718 Beacon St., offering what it describes as a state-of-the-art practice with a tech-enabled, membership-based model.

“Let the woofs and meows of welcome ring out throughout our good City,” Fuller said in a recent statement. “I and so many fellow Newtonians and their pets are thrilled to have Small Door Veterinary open a clinic right in the center of Newton.”

Small Door’s Newton practice is the brand’s first outside of a set of core locations in New York City. CEO and Co-Founder Josh Guttman said last week that the brand had developed a "fiercely loyal community of members" in New York.

“[O]ur team identified Boston as another market of pet lovers ready for a more modern, warmer approach to veterinary care,” Guttman continued.

Small Door is employing Dr. Sarah Gorman and Dr. Jennifer Power as its managing veterinarian and senior veterinarian respectively.

The brand has announced it is looking to expand further with a planned second Boston-area practice in Brookline opening in the spring.
