Reading Firefighters Extinguish Shed Fire

Firefighters issued a warning to residents about using weed torches.

READING, MA — Reading firefighters extinguished a shed fire Wednesday night, according to a post from Reading Firefighters Local 1640.

Fire dispatch received the call reporting the blaze on Howard Street just before 8 p.m.

Crews arrived to find a fire in a small utility shed. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The fire was possibly caused by a torch used to burn nearby weeds.

"Although this was a minor incident, there have been major structure fires caused by weed torches," the post reads. "If using a weed torch, please make sure to not use it near any structure or combustable materials."
