Boston Celtics Trade Rajon Rondo to Dallas Mavericks

Rondo will say farewell to TD Garden. The trade was finalized Thursday night.

The Boston Celtics traded Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.

ESPN.com reported that the Celtics agreed to trading the four-time All-Star with Dwight Powell in return for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, a 2015 first-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round pick.

Rondo, who has spent his entire professional career with the Celtics, was the starting point guard on Boston’s 2008 NBA Championship team. NBA.com reported he holds averages of 11.0 points, 8.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 32.9 minutes per game.

Wright, a new Celtic, is averaging 8.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, while Jameer Nelson is averaging 7.3 points and 4.1 assists while shooting 37 percent from the field.
