Brookline Native to be Next Red Sox President

Current President and CEO Larry Lucchino will reportedly step down at the end of the year.

Boston Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino is stepping down at the end of the year and will be replaced by Brookline native Sam Kennedy, the Boston Globe reports.

“Sam Kennedy is my choice to be the next president of the Red Sox when I complete my contract at the end of the year,’’ Lucchino told the Globe Saturday. “This will be in effect when I complete my contract at the end of the season.’’

Kennedy, 42, is the current executive vice president and COO, and one of Lucchino’s closest advisors. He will take over as president at the end of the year. Co-owner Tom Werner will reportedly take over as CEO.
