Injured Boston Bombing Couple to Divorce

27-year-old Rebekah Gregory has a child from a previous relationship.

Jury selection is reported to be nearly complete for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is accused of setting off bombs that exploded during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. Three people were killed and hundreds more injured.

Rebekah Gregory DiMartino, who was just feet away from the finish line as the two bombs exploded, had her left leg amputated in November after 18 months and 17 surgeries.

Rebekah started walking again in January and she was married to 30-year-old Pete DiMartino at the time. The couple, after tying the knot in April 2014, is now separating.

“After the decision was made to amputate my leg in November, I found myself having to make an even more painful choice – to separate from my husband Pete,” DiMartino said to People magazine Wednesday. “Over the last several months I’ve come to realize that going through such a horrific event together put a fast-forward on our relationship that we each handled differently.”

Gregory also voiced her frustration on the Rebekah Gregory DiMartino’s New Day New Hope Facebook page.

“I have set such high expectations for myself, while meanwhile going through other major struggles completely unrelated to my amputation,” she wrote.

She also said her “dreams have once again been clouded by nightmares,” and cited the Boston Marathon bombing suspect’s trial as a contributor to that stress.

Rebekah Gregory, who has a 7-year-old son from a previous relationship, is in the process of separating from Pete as of Thursday, Feb. 26.
