Roslindale Day Parade to Honor Fallen Heroes

Dancers, marching bands, antique cars and costumed cartoon characters will march in the 39th annual Roslindale Day Parade this Sunday.

This year’s Roslindale Day Parade will honor fallen local heroes, Fire Lt. Edward J. Walsh, Jr. and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy on Sunday.

Walsh and Kennedy were killed in a nine-alarm Back Bay fire in March.

The 39th annual Roslindale Day Parade kicks off at 1 p.m. in Roslindale Village.

To honor the fallen, there will be a performance by the Boston Gaelic Fire Brigade and special theme floats. Additionally, those marching will pass under a ladder arch erected by the Boston Fire Department at the beginning of the parade.

Parade entertainment will include marching bands, dance troupes, antique cars, costumed cartoon characters and the full Shriners contingent from Aleppo Temple.
