Sumner Students to Thank Firefighters and Donors

Students will show their gratitude to firefighters who tried to save the playground and community members who donated to help rebuild it.

ROSLINDALE, MA - On Tuesday morning, the Charles Sumner Elementary family will come together to honor Boston firefighters who tried to quell the blaze that destroyed the school's playground and those who have donated to help rebuild the equipment.

During the ceremony, which begins at 10:30 a.m., students will say goodbye to their beloved playground and thank community members for raising more than $60,000.

The May 23 fire was later determined to be arson; three juveniles were arrested last week and charged with the crime.
