Salem Students Honored At Emerson, JMU, SNHU, Stonehill, URI, WPI

SALEM, MA — These Salem students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinctions at colleges, universities and schools across the nation.

Kirsten New was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2024 term at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Salem student Kaelin Panneton, who majored in Computer Science, was bestowed a bachelor's degree at WPI's 155th Commencement. Over 1,100 undergraduate degrees were awarded during the ceremony.

Fiona Quinn Tierney, Avery Swiniarski and Sophia Meechin were named to the University of Rhode Island spring 2024 Dean's List. To be included on the Dean's List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average.

Lily Brown earned Dean's List list honors from Emerson College for the spring 2024 semester.
The requirement to make Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.
Brown is majoring in Journalism and is a member of the class of 2025.

Salem resident Jessica Tocci has been named to the Dean's List at James Madison University for the spring 2024 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Tocci is majoring in General Psychology - BA.

Jacob Dumont was among 625 students to process at Stonehill College's 73rd Commencement on May 19.

Assumption University said Janalys Vlaun, class of 2024, has been named to the university's Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.

Liam Donovan, a junior student-athlete studying Business Management competed on the Regis men's lacrosse team during the spring 2024 season.

Alexia Palm graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene from Regis College during the May 11 commencement exercises. Palm was among more than 1,100 students who received degrees ranging from associate to doctorate.

Kahlil Mitchell-Smith has been named to the 2024 spring semester Dean's List at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn Dean's List recognition, Ohio Wesleyan students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.

Kianna Madden and Steven Leahy earned spots on the Southern New Hampshire University Dean's List this winter with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The following Salem students recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines: Joseph Bolcome, Jeffrey Garbutt, Rachell Krell, Yizhou Wang, Lydia Fantozzi, Morelia Morel Diaz and Kejun Zhou.
