Want to learn how to use Inkscape to create exciting designs with a laser cutter? Attendees at this first of two Inkscape workshops will draw/write their name on a piece of paper, photograph it, send it to the computer to run through Inkscape to make a two layer version of their own signature to hang on a door or put on a desk.
This class is for learners ages 13+. Basic computer skills are required and basic word processing skills are recommended for this class. Space is limited; registration required. Registration for this class opens two weeks before the class.

Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton

Cellist Guy Fishman will be performing at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Grafton (UUSGU) on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 3:00 pm. The concert benefits the UUSGU LiftUP Campaign, aimed at installing a vertical lift to the main meeting space and sanctuary of the meetinghouse.
UUSGU is a vital thread in the fabric of the community. We host programs that serve vulnerable, at-risk, and diverse populations; share our space with other congregations; and work with other nonprofits. The installation of a lift ensures that people of all abilities can access our historic meetinghouse, and makes our space more available as a community resource.
Mr. Fishman is a principal of Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society and a specialist in early music. He has performed as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral player for Boston Baroque, Emmanuel Music, the Boston Museum Trio, and others. His dynamic performances are in demand both in this country and abroad.
Mr. Fishman plays a rare cello made in Rome in 1704.
The concert starts at 3:00 pm, doors open at 2:30 pm.
Tickets are $25 for general seating, with limited VIP seating at $35. Children under 12 are $20.

A Cappella Concert by Women of Note Barbershop Chorus

Join the Shrewsbury Public Library on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m. for a talk about law and the Supreme Court. Talk about complicated subjects can be hard to find. This talk provides legal and historical background to assess how the Supreme Court came about and its current situation at the Supreme Court. Issues to be discussed include: What is meant by “The “Rule of Law?” Has the Supreme Court overruled its own precedents in the past? Are recent decisions anything different from the past? Are the inalienable rights, privileges, and freedoms we enjoy under the Massachusetts Constitution at risk? How dangerous is today’s Supreme Court? Are changes warranted, and if so, how could changes be accomplished? These and other issues raised by recent Supreme Court decisions will be discussed.

Artist Nilda Ricci could use a stroke of luck. Attendees at this second of two Inkscape workshops will use a box generation software to create/build a box to their specific needs (or just a box for fun) and then implement the process from the previous session to decorate the box using the engraving, scoring, and cutting functions.
