SHREWSBURY, MA — A water quality advisory remains in effect for Gauch Pond Park in Shrewsbury after new tests showed E. coli is still present.

The pond, which is located at the northeastern side of Lake Quinsigamond along Main Street, was the subject of an E. coli advisory earlier this summer. Residents should avoid contact with the water until bacteria levels recede, health officials said.

"Town officials encourage individuals and their pets to avoid contact at the above-mentioned body of water, including fishing, until further notice," the town said in a Wednesday advisory.
