Hailed by John Renbourn as 'the best Celtic guitarist in the world,’ Tony McManus has also been listed as one of the 50 transcendent guitarists of all time by Guitar Player Magazine. Tony has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, his ﬁendishly dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic world, along with still further-ranging ﬂavours such as jazz and eastern European music. Long applauded for his uncanny ability to transpose the delicate, complex ornamentation characteristic of traditional bagpipe or ﬁddle tunes – even the phrasing of a Gaelic song – onto his own six strings, McManus is increasingly being acknowledged also as a pioneering ﬁgure in bridging the realms of Celtic music and other genres, accompanying folks such as Natalie McMaster, Alasdair Fraser, Dougie MacLean, Kevin Burke, and Phil Cunningham. He represents Celtic music in the guitar world, teaching at Swannanoa and Richard Thompson’s music camp, among others; making regular appearances at folk and guitar speciﬁc festivals such as the Chet Atkins Festival in Nashville; the Ellnora Guitar Festival in one of Illinois's most prestigious venues, the Krannert Center, with the likes of Pat Metheny, Kaki King, Molly Tuttle, and Steve Dawson; has appeared at Guitar Festivals in Soave and Pescantina, Italy; Frankston, Australia; Issoudun, France; Kirkmichael, Scotland; Bath and Kent, England; Bachum and Osnabruck, Germany. He performed at the famous Ryman Auditorium inn Nashville in the “All Star Guitar Night” featuring Steve Morse, Bryan Sutton, Muriel Anderson, Béla Fleck, and Victor Wooten, and headlined by the legendary Les Paul. His ability to reach audiences unfamiliar with trad music is remarkable - he is quite comfortable at predominantly classical events such as the Dundee and Derry GuitarFestivals (appearing six times between the two.) Join us August 22 to learn how you can help more students engage, learn and&nbsp;thrive&nbsp;this school year.&nbsp;Most volunteer opportunities require a commitment of at least one hour a week. A self-described “tree-hugger that watches NASCAR,” Grant Peeples is known for his axe-sharp socio-political tunes, raucous humor and heart-gigging ballads. He is the recipient of the Focus Foundation Award for Creative Excellence, which cited the “humor, compassion and wisdom of his songs,” and their "unflinching social insight and cultural acuity.” Grant tours coast to coast, and is a repeat performer at various festivals across the country, inclkuding Woody Guthrie Folk (Okemah OK), 30A Songwriter's (Santa Rosa Beach FL) , Moccasin Creek (Effingham IL), Word of South Festival of Literature and Music (Tallahassee FL), Antlers &amp; Acorns (Boone NC), and Florida Folk (White Springs FL). In June 2023 he made his debut at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. He has been a keen observer of the American condition for five decades, ever since a friend introduced him to the music of Bob Dylan. Through many years on the road, running a night club/music venue in Tallahassee, and after a ten-year stint on an isolated island off the coast of Nicaragua, Peeples turned to writing with a vengeance. He wrote poetry and songs that turned a critical eye on American culture and identity, the very definition of contemporary folk music. January 2019 marked a second tour in The Netherlands, where FolkForum.nl described him “…a pure storyteller, in the best American folk tradition…” and his show “…one of those gems that you will remember for a long time…” Grant's latest record is "A Murder of Songs," released in February 2023. <a href="https://www.grantpeeples.com/" target="_blank" aria-label="Opens in a new tab." rel="nofollow">www.GrantPeeples.com</a>

Cold Expectations - Fresh off their 2024 Rock &amp; Roll Rumble performance, Cold Expectations are eager to return to the Burren Backroom stage. They are a moody, dark, indie-rock band from Boston MA. Guitarist Steve Prygoda and bassist JoEllen Saunders Yannis have shapeshifted their own sound over time, crafting 21st century pop songs that borrow from the post-punk &amp; new wave past. Drummer Mike Demers (The Winter Project/Krebstar) fills out the songs with solid, driving rhythms. After a string of successful singles &amp; videos, they released their first full-length CE, Static Reactions, produced by David Minehan, via Red on Red Records. The Gypsy Moths - Garage soul shakers The Gypsy Moths are celebrating their 10th year as a band this year! The band released their third full length album (Sounds On) on Rum Bar Records in summer of 2023, with a handful of digital singles added to rotation on the “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” and "Coolest Songs In The World" channels on Sirius XM, along with significant streaming and terrestrial radio airplay across the US, Europe, Australia, and Japan. From The Boston Globe (Noah Schaffer): “The Gypsy Moths are a band with an impressive knack for writing the kind of catchy pop and R&amp;B songs that would have been standouts if they'd appeared on a long-lost LP from a 60's British Invasion band."&nbsp;

Girl with a Hawk is an American band formed in 2021. Fronted by singer/songwriter Linda Viens, the band includes Boston rock luminaries Richard Lamphear on keys, Dan Coughlin on guitar, Nancy Delaney on drums, and Daniel Bernfeld on bass. Described as “gorgeously emotive indie rock with Americana, garage, and punk roots, the band channels influences such as Tom Petty, Teenage FanClub, The Pretenders, Wilco and the Velvet Underground into a sound all their own: melodic, rich and 100% rock.” The band’s 5-song EP, 'keep 'er lit', out on seminal rock label Rum Bar Records, has held steady in the #2 spot on Indie Radio Stations across the US and the UK since its release on December 8, 2023. <a href="https://linktr.ee/girlwithahawk" target="_blank" aria-label="Opens in a new tab." rel="nofollow">https://linktr.ee/girlwithahawk</a>
