SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury residents now have a hub to share and enjoy local art.

A "free little art gallery" recently opened in front of the Goodnow Library. The box, similar to the little free book libraries, will act as a repository for art — residents can take home pieces, but also leave pieces behind for others to enjoy.

The idea came from Sudbury illustrator Bethany Schlegel Shaw, and got off the ground with help from Sudbury Art Association member Anna Ryan, Library Director Esmé Green and Ferrell Mackey from the Sara Sherman NOW Lab. Resident Beau Schless built the little free gallery structure.

Residents can donate art to the box by simply putting in the box, or by mailing work to the Sara Sherman NOW Lab, 21 Concord Road. The only requirement is that the art be no larger than 4 inches square. Goodnow patrons can also get free art supply kits at the library, made possible by a grant from the Sudbury Cultural Council.
